Into Your Hands, Father

Luke 23:45-47
45 Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. 46 And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last. 47 So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, “Certainly this was a righteous Man!”

Jesus tore the veil hiding God in the most holy place of the temple; His last breath testified that He was entirely righteous, God among (Emmanuel).  Even a Roman could see the truth in front of Him when the way to union and communion with God was opened by the sacrifice once for all on that tree, the cross.  We must in turn commit our spirit to Him, dying to ourselves and forever alive in Christ in sweet communion...
