Luke 22:52-53
52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, captains of the temple, and the elders who had come to Him, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs? 53 When I was with you daily in the temple, you did not try to seize Me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”
Deeds against good are often done in the dark, as if hiding keeps it from God. They came afraid when only the disciples could witness the illegal arrest, as if saying you are the Son of God, the Messiah, was a crime. Those in religious power over or influencing governments over the centuries since that time have not silenced the truth of Jesus' message since, nor will they till the end of this world. Love and truth conquers all.
