Luke 14:28-33
28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— 29 lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, 30 saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’... 33 So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.
Have we counted the real cost of following Jesus Christ? It is our very lives. Do we halfway commit to follow Him to only avoid hell, or to expect to get things from Him (easy life, wealth, etc.)? Or do we see the cost to build on our lives includes tearing down as well as building up and suffering to honor the one who bought us at such a price? We cannot be His followers (Christians) if we are not willing to be nailed as it were to a cross daily to die to ourselves that we may live for Him.
