Mark 14:34-36
34 Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch.” 35 He went a little farther, and fell on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, the hour might pass from Him. 36 And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will.”
When we face a trial or decision based on God's word and will for our lives, we pray. As we pray, we must follow Jesus' example here to make the focus on what our Father has for us, not what is comfortable, convenient, or that we think should be right. Knowing all is in His sovereign hands, we ask for His will in place of our beliefs and desires. We follow. That is what disciples do.
