Predestined to Die

John 19:33-37
33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. 34 But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. 35 And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you may believe. 36 For these things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, “Not one of His bones shall be broken.” 37 And again another Scripture says, “They shall look on Him whom they pierced.”

How Jesus did all according to the sovereign Father's will - God told us long before that the soldiers would not be able to break Jesus' bones, and that the crowd before the cross would gaze at the one they pierced by the Roman soldier's spear.  None of this could be humanly orchestrated.  It was God in perfect control of history and circumstances. So should we who are His trust that all things are allowed for good (His glory and what is best for us), no matter how painful or seemingly hopeless in the moment.  Look ahead in absolute trust because of who He is and rest in the promises.
