Matthew 17:22-23
22 Now while they were staying in Galilee, Jesus said to them, “The Son of Man is about to be betrayed into the hands of men, 23 and they will kill Him, and the third day He will be raised up.” And they were exceedingly sorrowful.
Jesus was betrayed by Judas, but in a sense by all of mankind as well. We all sinned and fall short of His righteousness. We all then chose sin over our God and Savior. Ah, but God's love and mercy brought life from death and forgiveness for our offenses, blotting them out of the courtroom record in eternity! So we have true sorrow over our sin that led to His crucifixion, yet joy in knowing He died while we were still in our sin - this is amazing grace.
