Matthew 16:18-19
18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
When Peter confessed Jesus is the Messiah, Jesus told him that confession is the foundation of His body, the church of those who truly believe and confess the same. This church of God, and not an institution of man, is unstoppable because the gospel of he suffering, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ cannot be done away with. God Himself has the keys as the Son, and on earth His kingdom will come. In Christ the true church has the keys.
