Matthew 15:13-14
13 But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. 14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”
When God calls a man, He waters the roots and holds him fast to the good soil. Those who plant themselves can't see and lead others to follow them to destruction. So are those who try to earn their eternal standing with God by their own efforts led by rules of man in the name of God. What comes from Him is in His word, not added to it by those who give themselves authority; this leads to life by the truth found in the only way, Jesus Christ - He alone justifies and reconciles us.
