Woe to False Teachers

Matthew 23:13-15
13 “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men; for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.  15 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you travel land and sea to win one proselyte, and when he is won, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves.

These would keep God's kingdom from others by placing their own rules above or in place of those in God's word.  So they keep others from reconciliation with God in Christ.  They go out of their way, traveling far to find and mislead many more, aligning those with theirs instead of God's.  Today the cults such as Mormonism do the same, as well as those Christian groups with bad teaching, emphasizing the miraculous and self-indulging misinterpretations over the simple truths of the gospel.  'Woe' is the opposite of blessed, not in God's favor.
