Matthew 13:51-52
51 Jesus said to them, “Have you understood all these things?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” 52 Then He said to them, “Therefore every scribe instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old.”
Understanding parables means we need to see how all of God's word fits together. The Old Testament is revealed in the parables and other New Testament books. Jesus told His followers to then dig into the Scriptures to unearth those treasures hidden before and revealed now. We have the Spirit to give understanding now, just as the disciples had Jesus in flesh in front of them then. He teaches us all things as we study to show ourselves approved and seek old and new things from cutting the word straight. So we teach others as we make disciples.
