Lord of the Sabbath and Temple

Matthew 12:5-8
5 Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless? 6 Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple. 7 But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless. 8 For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

Jesus set us free from the slavery to the Law, for the Law could only teach through "do this and do not do that" that we always fall short of God's perfection. So Jesus justifies and makes us righteous where following rules could never do. But by His Spirit within us, as reborn from death to life, we now can be conformed to Him with the Law in our hearts, motivating us where following rules in outward attempts always fails in the end.
