Matthew 10:16-18
16 “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. 17 But beware of men, for they will deliver you up to councils and scourge you in their synagogues. 18 You will be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.
We are in a world set against Jesus Christ. Guilty and under judgement, those refusing to humble themselves before Him instead fight against all that is His - including us. We will be persecuted in various ways, but it is for His name's sake. We testify in words and actions to His mercy and grace in the face of justice's reward coming due. So we must be keenly aware of the devices of our enemy and all his minions, yet harmless in our love and lack of judgment. God and His word have already judged the world. We are ambassadors of Christ and His gospel, not executioners or manipulator so. So we speak truth in love, aware of what is going on.
