Peace With God, Not on Earth

Matthew 10:34-37
34 “Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. 35 For I have come to “set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; 36 and ‘a man's enemies will be those of his own household.’ 37 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.

Do we love God above all others, even when it means no peace? This is especially difficult when your own parents or siblings are against Christ. But Jesus told us this would happen, and it shows that those set against Him can be anyone - including those closest to us. But we are worthy of the one who saved us, buying at the price of His Son, and so put living for and following after Him first. This is difficult yet the burden can be light when we keep in step with our Lord.
