Matthew 8:19-22
19 Then a certain scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.” 20 And Jesus said to him, “Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head.” 21 Then another of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.” 22 But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
When Jesus calls a man to follow, He calls him to die. We are bought at such a price, and may have nothing to hold to in this life when we give up all to that call. We cannot hesitate to take care of family business, or seek enough in houses or riches. Our all must race toward the goal of the upward call of God in Christ. He knows what we need and we have it from Him; why run after things without a reward?
