New Vessels of Mercy in Grace

Matthew 9:16-17
16 No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. 17 Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

When we are made new creatures, it is as if we have new clothes - and we cannot put on pieces of our old life. It will only lead to ruin. Just as old brittle wine containers cannot hold new wine that expands to break them, so we must keep new life in changed vessels of mercy and grace.
