Let Everyone Praise the LORD!

Psalms 117:1-2

1 Praise the LORD, all you Gentiles!
Laud Him, all you peoples!

2 For His merciful kindness is great toward us,
And the truth of the LORD endures forever.

Praise the LORD!

This simple song of praise captures so much in just two stanzas.  The first is quoted in Romans 15:11 as hope for the nations beyond just the nation of Israel.  The call is for all Gentiles, people from every nation, to praise the LORD, to “glorify God for His mercy,” as Romans 15:9 expands upon this for us.  This gives us hope with joy and peace in believing in the divine Lord who is Jesus Christ revealed among us, the same LORD mentioned here.  We therefore abound in hope by the power of God’s Spirit who resides in us now.  We are to commend and glorify Him in our praises!  Why?  Because His love demonstrates His mercy towards us, a goodness and kindness which is merciful and favorable for we His people.  This truth, along with all the others in scripture, is eternal - it never ends in its verity and effectual working by faith towards all whom He calls out to Himself.  That is, we are called out of the the darkness of our deserved condemnation of judgment against our sin, and into the light of His lovingkindness of forgiveness and grace of true and unending salvation which does not ever fade away (1 Peter 2:9-10, 1:4).  These simple truths have such depth and such implications as to cause us awe in our praise to honor and glorify our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ (Titus 2:13).  Let everyone Praise our Lord!
