Psalms 150:1-6
1 Praise the LORD!
Praise God in His sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty firmament!
2 Praise Him for His mighty acts;
Praise Him according to His excellent greatness!
3 Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet;
Praise Him with the lute and harp!
4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance;
Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!
5 Praise Him with loud cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals!
6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD!
The final psalm summaries all the rest by directing our hearts and minds to sing God’s praise along with all of creation! Yes, everything that has breath, which has been given life by its Creator, owes the LORD all honor and praise with thanksgiving for their existence and His sustaining grace with the lovingkindness of the Sovereign Almighty. We praise Him therefore in the assembly of the saints at hand and in His heavenly realm far above us. We praise and laud Him for all the mighty acts of His grace and providence of righteousness. Yes, we exalt God above because He is great and greatly to be praised in His excellence of character and love especially towards we who have been crafted in His image within. We sound off with loud instruments to celebrate Him in worship music of all kinds, and dance before Him as undignified in humble adoration as King David did in worship of exuberant praise. The clashing of cymbals in crescendo lift our hearts to cry out in praise of thankful hearts to Him. Yes, let everyone and everything in heaven and earth praise and worship the One who alone is worthy! As 1 Timothy 1:17 says, “Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.” Let us then who know Him forever (1 Chronicles 29:11-13) praise the Lord! Amen and hallelujah to the King of kings and Lord of lords!
