Blessed Unity of Consecration

Psalms 133:1-3
A Song of Ascents. Of David.

1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!

2 It is like the precious oil upon the head,
Running down on the beard,
The beard of Aaron,
Running down on the edge of his garments.

3 It is like the dew of Hermon,
Descending upon the mountains of Zion;
For there the LORD commanded the blessing—

Life forevermore.

How blessed are God’s people anointed by God’s Spirit (2 Corinthians 1:21-22, 1 John 2:20, 27) for unity of the faith (Ephesians 4:13), each consecrated as His priests (Revelation 5:10) to minister to Him and each other!  This brings unity as His people under Christ as the head of the Body, the universal unseen church comprised of all regenerated believers whom He called out to Himself.  Yes, how good and pleasant it is for us as brothers and sisters to live in that unity!  How difficult is is to do at times, however, as we let our selfish interests and pride to interfere with judgment and lack of forgiveness.  May we learn from the example of Aaron and the old priesthood as a pattern of overflowing grace poured on us which can be allowed to flow unhindered down our faces and onto those to whom we minister these spiritual graces given to us for each other’s benefit (1 Peter 4:10).  May we be clothed in His grace and mercy, driven by love and soaking our earthly bodies of sin to cover us and enable this unity.  Like the morning dew that refreshes our worship, we minister the things of eternal life, evermore in Christ, commanded as His gift through the gospel.  Life everlasting is commanded as a blessing for we who are  called, chosen, and faithful (1 Peter 2:9, Revelation 17:14).  Let us then minister this grace to each other as we grow together towards spiritual maturity (Ephesians 4:13, Colossians 1:28) in our washing of each other’s feet, the struggles of stumbling (Hebrews 12:13) and walking through life towards that day when we all will stand before the throne as His kingdom of priests.  This is the life of blessed unity in our consecration to serve our Lord and each other.  Life forevermore!
