42 And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead. 43 To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.” 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.
We are here given the example to tell of and to bear witness to the work of God in Christ, giving testimony to the truth that Jesus will judge all - living or dead. The prophets told of this for generations, pointing to the Messiah who could be looked upon and completely trusted to have their sin and its penalty taken away by God (not by sacrificial effort of our own). When these who were not God's people heard, they believed, received, and were reborn, having God's Spirit come to live in them forever. So now we speak, and when others hear the words of life and it pierces their hearts by God's grace, they are made new by Christ and faith alone.
