22 Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch. 23 When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord. 24 For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.
When God's word reached the gentiles, word of that reached back to the first church back in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas all the way to Antioch. He saw what God's grace had done in the lives of non-Jews with repentance to life, and the church rejoicingly encouraged them in the Lord. Barnabas urged them to keep on growing in Christ because he was strong in faith and in step with God's Spirit. This faithfulness and encouraging led many more to be immersed into Christ. So should we walk.
