Promise to Abraham

Acts 10:45-48
45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, 47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.

When God called Gentiles to Himself in Christ, the Jews were surprised - yet they read of the promise to Abraham to be the father of many nations; they assumed it was the 12 tribes and not the world (as the sand of the seas and stars of the sky).  So others were filled with God's Spirit and baptized in the name of the Lord also.  The church began spreading to the end of the earth.  God will call those out of of every race and nation, so we who are His must accept the equality and inclusivity of the gospel.
