Witness to the Light of the World

John 1:6-9 
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.

John the Baptist had been called and sent by God to tell others of the light of men so that we could believe through that testimony by the call to turn from sin to Him. The true light John told us about was about to be seen, so as to illuminate all who would gaze upon Him in repentance and faith - believing, trusting, and receiving that light.  We who know Him now also bear forth that light as witnesses.
