John 4:31-34
31 In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” 32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.” 33 Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” 34 Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.
To Jesus food to sustain the body and enjoy was actually doing God the Father's will, finishing the work He came to do - teaching, suffering, dying, and resurrecting from the grave. So that is what He hungered for. We should also hunger for doing God's will, to run the course faithfully and finish the race with the goal of glorifying God in sight always. This is His will and our calling. Let us find these words of His as more than necessary food and savor each one.
