Matthew 5:9-12
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
God is pleased when we take the difficult and narrow road to do our part to make peace, knowing we cannot guarantee resolution - yet also aware we could make matters worse by saying nothing or even stirring things up more. When we so live godly in Christ and speak the good news, persecution and attacks will certainly come our way. We will be defamed and slandered because they see our great God and Savior in us; but joy should override persecution as heaven rejoices when we honor and glorify God and become more as He originally created us to be, reflecting His hand.
