Acts 4:13-16 13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. 14 And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it. 15 But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves, 16 saying, “What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them is evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.
Peter and John were not educated nor trained in God's word, yet they spoke as and did things only someone knowing God and the Scriptures could do. The studied and learned stood and marveled. What could they say against the finger of God working through these two? Though they wanted to refute and explain it all away to look better and keep their authority, God's clearly was displayed over theirs. So they tried to think of a way to stop them. So those today with only a form of godliness, the atheists, and the ungodly all try to attack God's word and work in Christ.
