Luke 20:41-44
41 And He said to them, “How can they say that the Christ is the Son of David? 42 Now David himself said in the Book of Psalms: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, 43 Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” ’ 44 Therefore David calls Him ‘Lord’; how is He then his Son?”
Though on the human side Jesus was descended from King David as we were told, as God Jesus was also Yahweh to David as adonai (lord, master, ruler). So Jesus made it clear He is God as well as man. Only God can live without sin and so sacrifice Himself once for all who come to God the Father through Him. But a man had to pay the price as one of us, so God sacrificed His only and chosen Son as Abraham began to do in the same place years before. Awe.
