Luke 20:19-20
19 And the chief priests and the scribes that very hour sought to lay hands on Him, but they feared the people—for they knew He had spoken this parable against them. 20 So they watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, that they might seize on His words, in order to deliver Him to the power and the authority of the governor.
Those opposed to Christ usually have an agenda, the minority with the loud voice doing all possible to kill the gospel message of accountability and judgment, of sin and righteousness. So they creep in to pervert the message and messengers. But God is greater, completely sovereign, wise, and able to reach men's hearts no matter the opposition. To fight against God is both futile and destructive, especially when He offers grace to forgive and reconcile.
