Crucified and Died While we were Enemies

Matthew 27:27-31   
27 Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him. 28 And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. 29 When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!” 30 Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head. 31 And when they had mocked Him, they took the robe off Him, put His own clothes on Him, and led Him away to be crucified.

The whole garrison of about 500 men watched as Jesus was mocked and hit in scorn that He should be called a king of the Jews.  Then they stripped Him back down and sent Him to be killed - but they did not know He went willingly to die even for they who mocked Him in heir sin.  He then died for them while they were still sinners.  So now His death is for all who sin, who mock and scorn God and refuse to do what He said is right.  He waits for them as He calls to turn and be made new...
