John 5:30
I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.
Why should we listen to Jesus Christ? Because as God's very word spoken to create all things, that word that became a man, He is God. When God speaks and judges, it it right and true, and so God's will in judgment and all things is heard in the Son of God. We listen therefore to God speaking as recorded in the Bible, the authority of God - His word that both judges and forgives as it reveals His character and will, as well as our hopeless state apart from Him without reconciliation in Christ.
