Betrayed, Condemned, Crucified, Arisen!

Matthew 20:17-19
17 Now Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside on the road and said to them, 18 “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, 19 and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again.”

Jesus hinted often at His death and resurrection, but here He plainly spoke of betrayal, mocking, beating, crucifying to death, and resurrection from death to life.  Yet they were still unable to grasp it. Even the basic understanding to hear the gospel message here escapes us without our minds being lit up by Him to know enough to respond for or against.  In fact, until He rose and now comes as Spirit to live inside each of us to give the understanding, we are unable to know more and grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.  All is God's gift to know and grow.
