Deuteronomy 18:15-22

A New Prophet Like Moses

15 “The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear, 16 according to all you desired of the LORD your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the LORD my God, nor let me see this great fire anymore, lest I die.’

17 “And the LORD said to me: What they have spoken is good. 18 I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. 19 And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him. 20 But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.’ 21 And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?’— 22 when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.

We see how the people of God were told a Prophet similar to Moses yet fat superior was coming. We now know this to be the Son of God, the Anointed Christ named Jesus.  We are all called to hear Him and heed His words (Acts 3:22-23, 25-26) because they are God’s words (Hebrews 1:1-2) of the final prophet to us all.  If we do not hear Him we will die in our sins (John 8:24).  Listening to false prophets like that of Islam or Mormonism only leads to spiritual death as deaf ears are turned away to lies instead of listening to the true last and ultimate Prophet of the living God, Jesus Christ, to find (John 5:24) life out of death now (Romans 6:23) and beyond the grave.  God indeed told them He would raise up this Prophet and He did, twice.  First out of the seed of Adam and Eve (Genesis 3:15) through the lineage channel of the Messiah Branch of Israel, then raised again out of the grave in the resurrection of hope for all who believe in Him and heed His word of life (John 1:1, 14, Philippians 2:16, 1 John 1:1) through the gospel.  The Son spoke all the words of His Father and now gives us life and faith to hear the truth with opened ears for our deliverance from sin’s penalty and gives us an entrance into glory in His presence!  Any other words of any other self-proclaimed prophets only leads to death of the soul in a resurrection to judgment for not hearing and heeding the only and final Prophet, Jesus Christ the Lord of glory to us (James 2:1) all.  Hear the true and only final Prophet and live.  Do not be fooled by other ‘gospels.’
