What Makes the Lord Happy?

Luke 10:21-24

Jesus Rejoices in the Spirit

21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, "I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes. Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. 22 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him."

23 Then He turned to His disciples and said privately, "Blessed are the eyes which see the things you see; 24 for I tell you that many prophets and kings have desired to see what you see, and have not seen it, and to hear what you hear, and have not heard it."

What makes the Lord happy?  He thanked His Father because He had shown Himself to those whom were called and chosen.  He thanked Him that they had their eyes and ears opened so they could hear and be drawn to hear the words of life of this gospel.  The Lord of heaven and earth unveiled their eyes (2 Corinthians 3:14, 16) and hearts to know the things Jesus spoke to fulfill the scriptures as to toddlers who hear and believe without doubt or fear when taught by their and before they get hardened by the decietfulness of sin (Hebrews 3:13).  Jesus did this.  God’s Spirit worked this in their hearts.  The Father in heaven willed it, planned it, and executed His will in them for His good pleasure and for the good of His followers.  He does this still.  We who are called and chosen out of our Father’s love (Romans 8:28) are saved and sanctified (Romans 8:29-30) in this grace.  We have been called and justified freely in the Son of God and will be glorified with incorruptible bodies (1 Corinthians 15:52, 1 Peter 1:4) after death is defeated once and for all in the resurrection of life, just as we who have been saved have already been raised spiritually from death to life in Christ and eagerly anticipate (Romans 8:23, 25, 1 Corinthians 1:7-8, Galatians 5:5) the fulfillment of all we have been given to see as if in a foggy mirror (1 Corinthians 13:12) at the present time but with perfect clarity as we stand before Him on that day face to face!  We only know our Father in heaven through knowing His Son Jesus the Christ who has revealed Himself to His own (Matthew 11:27, John 1:11-13, 10:27-28) sheep who have been drawn (John 6:44) to hear their Master’s voice.  We who hear have been infinitely blessed to see and hear what the prophets of old longed to unravel and comprehend.  We comprehend our calling now because we have been given the understanding by His Spirit in us and now have eyes to see and ears to hear because He has unstopped them (Isaiah 35:5, Mark 7:33, 8:23) as only our Creator can do.  Without this regeneration from spiritual death (Ephesians 2:5-6) we are unable to see life or hear the call to enter into heaven through repentance and faith given to us.  That is what those of old were able merely to anticipate without seeing and hearing as we do now by this grace in which we stand.  This is humbling to know our calling that is not what we deserve as we contemplate that God Himself chose us to unveil His will by the working of His word and Spirit in we who have been called out into His body the church to worship and enjoy Him forever!  What make the Lord happy?  Praise Him, praise Him, Jesus our blessed Redeemer!
