Numbers 7:89
89 Now when Moses went into the tabernacle of meeting to speak with Him, he heard the voice of One speaking to him from above the mercy seat that was on the ark of the Testimony, from between the two cherubim; thus He spoke to him.
After the consecration and sacrifices of the tabernacle by God’s people by the head of each family, we come to this verse. Moses went into the tabernacle to meet with God. He actually went in and spoke with God, both listening and talking with Him! What did he hear? The voice of the one Who Is Who He Is, the one positioned Himself over the seat of mercy of His Testimony. The Lord spoke out of mercy to forgive as the sacrifices were made according to the testimony of His word which promised these things. He also spoke amidst angels as if seated in the heavenly place of His dwelling where they continually worship and praise Him day and night forever. This is the place where God spoke with Moses as His interceding spokesman of mercy and grace. Do we speak with God in prayer as we acknowledge His sacrifice in Jesus Christ, praising Him for who He is and the work done for us in eternal mercy and grace? Let us boldly draw near to that throne in the heavenly places (Hebrews 4:16) in communication and communion with the Almighty, the King of kings and Lord of all lords. Let us listen and worship the Lord our Maker (Psalm 95:6). Amen.
