1 Corinthians 11:17-19
17 Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse. 18 For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it. 19 For there must also be factions among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you.

Continuing on gathering together as a church, here we find good instruction is needed even more when the things being done are for the worse. First of all, there are many dissections (σχίσμα, schisma) and dissensions over opinions (αἵρεσις, hairesis). These minor splits within the congregation have the good outcome of bringing out what is true and right, but can be uncontrolled and lead to heretical or emotional splits in a local body. Good instruction that is pressed down and flowing over into reconciliation as Bereans to follow what God has indeed said is the favored goal instead.
